Some quick summaries and my own understanding to this great article when working with designers and stakeholders.
🙅♀️ Generating ideas by showing options 1, 2 and 3
Don’t just show screens and ask PO to decide, show/convince them with justification by research/analysis.
💡 Engaging a time-poor Product owner
Book commitment times from PO so they treat the discussion important accordingly.
Clearly report delayed/cancelled calls, so project progress in RED is on everyone radar, especially higher management ones.
🙅♀️ Micro-management and attachment to product
Great design research takes planning, data gathering, synthesis…explain to PO what timeline should be expected from design realm.
💡 Multiple product owner, visions and objectives
Inevitable in larger product/organization, but keep common visions/objectives highly visible and update/review design/stories under that arch.
🙅♀️ Absence of product owner
Address the importance of having a ACTUAL product owner, not someone just assigned and is afraid of/unwilling to making decision, not really knowing what the requirement/team/technology is.
Product owner should NOT just show up in show cases.
